Day 3 and Day 4 Potty Training

Image
With Miles, he is stubborn. He has so much will power that it's a good thing but hard when you want him to do something for his own good. Potty Training is going to take awhile for him to master.

Day 3:
Another day of not wanting to sit on the potty. Though, we were able to get him sitting on the potty to go number 2. But he held it and went into his diaper after he got off. *sigh* It's a good thing he's cute...

Day 4:
Another day of no potty. I am glad it's the weekend and his daddy will be home. Today was a bad day for Miles. It seems to be a common thing this winter break. That will be another post. We didn't even try to get him to sit on the potty because he was having a bad day. Also he has a physical at the doctors to go to.

Here is to hoping for some success on Day 5 and Day 6.

Day 1 and Day 2 of Potty Training

So I decided to brave the trenches and start potty training Miles. There is several autistic individuals who are not potty trained even into adulthood. It can cause sensory issues with kids with autism. But we are doing it to see if we can accomplish and only have one child in diapers. So I am going to write about it and how we are doing. I won't have pictures so you can rest reassure of that.

THE PLAN: So the plan is at this moment is to have Miles wear his potty watch. He likes it and it lights up. We will have it set on 30 minutes. So every 30 minutes it will go off and Miles and I will head into the bathroom. Miles for awhile will still wear a diaper but at times I will have him wear underwear underneath his diaper if he will handle it okay. So he can feel the wet when he has an accident. If Miles sits on the potty for a minute or longer he is able to get a sip of soda (Non-caffeine) as a reward. If Miles pees in the potty he gets a cup of soda. If Miles poops in the potty he …

Book Review: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson

Image
The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, smoke cigars, swear, and hit little kids. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant. None of the Herdmans has ever heard the Christmas story before. Their interpretation of the tale - the Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating --has a lot of people in arms. But it will make this year's pageant the most unusual anyone has ever seen and, just possibly, the best one ever. Check it out in "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

This book was so funny and my kids learned a really good lesson from it. They learned to not judge others and how they will act. They loved each mistake the Herdmans did during the Christmas Pageant. It was nice to see that in the end they had a good pageant even if it wasn't correct. We loved the pictures in this book and recommend it to everyone.

Book Review: Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner

Image
Snowmen at Night shared with us the magical, slip-sliding adventures of snowmen after dark...bu have you ever wondered what snowmen do for Christmas? Well, now's your chance to find out! The snowmen are back, and this time they're celebrating Christmas - the snowman way! This snappy and entertaining companion to the New York Times bestseller Snowmen at Night depicts all the best parts of the holiday, replete with icy treats and a snowman Kris Kringle. Told in the same bouncy verse as the original, Snowmen at Christmas is perfect.

My kids loved watching the snowmen come alive and have Christmas. They enjoyed how the snowmen were different in each picture and were alive in them. We loved reading how they changed some of the Christmas traditions to fit how the snowmen have to stay cold. It was a great read and we recommend it.

Book Review: Forgotten Bookmarks: A Bookseller's Collection of Odd Things lost Between the Pages by Michael Popek

Image
It's happened to all of us: we're reading a book, something interrupts us, and we grab the closest thing at hand to mark our spot. It could be a train ticket, a letter, an advertisement, a photograph, or a four-leaf clover. Eventually the book finds its way into the world-a library, a flea market, other people's bookshelves, or a used bookstore. But what becomes of those forgotten bookmarks? What stories could they tell? By day, Michael Popek works in his family's used bookstore. By night, he's the voyeuristic force behind www.forgottenbookmarks.com, where he shares the weird objects he has found among the stacks at his store. Forgotten Bookmarks is a scrapbook of Popek's most interesting finds.

I tried really hard to get into this book. I was really interested in the concept and thought some of the pictures he found were really neat. i wanted to know if he went searching for some of the people in the pictures. I wanted to know more about the people and why t…

Book Review: A Bad Kitty Christmas by Nick Bruel

Image
A greedy Bad Kitty didn't get all the presents she wanted for Christmas, but after she goes on a Christmas caper across town and through multiple alphabets, she makes a new friend, finds an old friend, and learns the true meaning of Christmas. Or not. Check it out in "A Bad Kitty Christmas" by Nick Bruel.

My three kids loved this book but I feel like they over did it on the alphabet three different times at least. Some of the letters it felt like was forced into the text to make it work. I really liked how they were teaching Bad Kitty the true meaning of Christmas because it helps teach children that Christmas isn't about just gift giving. The pictures were great how it had two stories going at once. I recommend this to teach about the true meaning of Christmas.

My Week in a Nutshell

Sunday: Stayed up late to watch the Chiefs vs. Broncos game. It was an incredible game and ended up ending way late.

Monday: Kids didn't want to get up and I didn't want to get up. Got Miles to school and walked Ginny to school. Mason is super clingy. Got an email at 2:00pm from Ginny's teacher and found out my beautiful little girl decided to slap someone at lunch. Picked Ginny up from school and had to talk to her. Found out that Ginny peed her pants a little bit at lunch and a girl made fun of her. So Ginny smacked her.

Tuesday: Miles decided to have an 30 minute meltdown at school. He was on edge that whole day...tried to keep him happy.

Wednesday: Miles had a 40 minute meltdown at school and locked himself in the classroom bathroom. Was in a very cuddly mood the whole afternoon but kept fighting with Mason. Dinner was late getting on the table.

Thursday: Miles had a 40 minute meltdown at school and didn't want other kids to touch toys. He did the same when he came…

I was asked by the author and publishing to give my honest review. Lacy Buchanan fairy tale started like everyone else. She met the love of her life and they were married. Then came a baby in a baby carriage. But things were not like they seem. Lacey Buchanan's son Christian was born with a medical condition that is so unique, it's one of only fifty known cases in the world. This story has captured hearts of hundred of thousands. In "Through the Eyes of Hope", Lacey Buchanan tells story of trusting God in the face of adversity. You will be moved and inspired to hold on to God's promises when things go wrong and find joy in midst of any storm.

I have been following Lacey and Christian since her little boy was a baby. I saw her famous video, "Mother's Inspirational Video of Blind Baby Boy - Lacey and Christian Buchanan." I fell in love with the strength of Lacey as she conquered each challenge. As you all know, I am a mother of a amazing boy who has h…
